It doesn’t always go to plan….

So sharing with you a little secret today! You know those gorgeous photos you see on Instagram, facebook and beauty blogs? The ones with the beautiful glossy cream and lotions, the ones with an arty smear of wonderful plant oils? Here’s the secret. Often there are many spectacular flops until that perfect desired result is reached. Sloppy balms, grainy butters, split lotions, not very successful results. And much muttering, messes and stamping of feet.

The picture below may look like something that you would want to use but the truth is - it definitely is not. I was playing with formulating a balm that could double as a lip or cheek tint. The end result was not a very nice texture or skin feel and all round just not good!

Formulating quality products is definitely a science. It is a complex interaction of method, ingredients and skill. Sometimes things just don’t go to plan and there is a lot of time, tweaking, adjusting and research that goes into each formulation so the perfect result is achieved to give the best results for you skin. And even after the product is perfected a lot of field testing is carried out to ensure its safety and efficacy. But in the meantime ponder over those Instagram photos. And I will be back in the lab to perfect that balm!
